The Beautiful Textures and Colors Make Up the Fabric of the Vine
I am fascinated by the textures of many things that I see out in nature, but one of my favorite things is wood. I find the patterns in the bark and the rings inside very intriguing. And that also extends to other types of plant life, too, not just trees. One day I was looking in the summer grape vines for insects, and was quite taken with this junction in one of the vines. It was obviously an older section of the vine that had become thickened and woody, but was very much alive. I liked the texture of the vine itself, and especially in contrast to the relatively smooth leaves. The black and white helps to bring out those textures, and although there are no actual “colors” the various grey tones help to define the texture even more. When you add together those textures and “colors” it gives a very definite pattern or fabric of the vine. In my mind I can easily reach out and touch it. I hope you can, too.
