The Beautiful Chickadees Wanted Their Pictures Taken Today

It’s been very hot and humid lately, but today there was just a small touch of fall in the air. It was slightly cooler, and definitely less humid. There was also a nice light breeze, so I could almost sit outside and watch the birds without becoming soaked in sweat. I don’t know if it was the weather or just luck of the draw, but the little Carolina chickadees (Poecile carolinensis) were out in numbers and were also posing nicely for me. This one was one of several that posed in nice open areas and stayed nicely in place while I photographed them. As it sat on the branch it kept cocking its head as if it was in great thought. Actually, it was just watching the area and the way the eyes are set, it had to cock its head to see some areas. Still, I liked the idea of a beautiful little bird deep in thought after a nice meal. Tomorrow who knows what birds will be out there and what they will do, but it always keeps me interested and engaged in thoughts of my own as I try to understand them.
