Interesting Textures and Beautiful Colors Make a Perfect Subject
We are well into spring now, and wildflowers are everywhere! They literally come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are plentiful and others are more scarce. Some are large and some are small. When I’m out walking around or doing chores on my farm I’m always finding interesting photographic subjects this time of the year. These are a cluster of Eastern daisy fleabane (Erigeron annuus) buds that are in several different stages of opening. These flowers are also known as daisy fleabane, annual fleabane, white top, and tall fleabane. When in full bloom, the flowers are very similar to daisies except that they have more white ray petals. Also like daisies they are very much loved by bees, wasps, butterflies, and other nectar eating insects. Although the flowers are pretty, I think the buds are very attractive too. The green buds with their dark red tips are a nice color combination, and I really like their texture and the textures of the stems and leaves, as well.
