The Colorful Mimosa Flower Were Touched by Dry Weather
We had a pretty dry spring this year in my part of central Florida, and many of our flowering trees and plants were affected by that. The azaleas and gardenias had a very short blooming period, and the mimosas were not as colorful as usual and many of the flowers were dry and wilted. Most years, I take a lot of photos of the mimosas (and the azaleas and gardenias), but this year only a few trees had really beautiful flowers. This bunch of flowers was on a tree not far from where I live, and was one of the few that had good color in the flowers. Even on this tree, though, many of the flowers were slightly wilted, and all of them had a dry coating of the dirt from our road on them. This is also the tree that was so attractive to the Palamedes swallowtail butterflies. I would say the fact that it had more colorful flowers might have been the attraction, but it was very popular with the butterflies last year, too, when all the trees had colorful flowers.
