The Tufted Titmouse is Beautiful and Quite Adorable

One of the most common birds around my area is the tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). It would be unusual for me to go birding in my yard or take a hike in the Gothe State Forest without seeing one. There are several pairs that nest in my yard and they and their offspring are regular visitors to the feeding stations. Because of that, I photograph them pretty regularly. They are active little birds so they are always up to something. This little one was perched on a rock in my yard while it decided if it was safe to grab some food off the ground or not. These birds, like the cardinals, don’t mind eating either up in the air or on the ground. When it looked at me and cocked its head it was too cute to resist.
