The Tufted Titmouse is a Beautiful Bird Well Suited for Art

There are those out there who find the cute little tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) to be fairly plain. They have grey feathers on their backs and heads with lighter grey underneath. They do have small patches of amber under each wing. This coloration, by not being bright, helps to keep them hidden in the woods and scrub where they live. Personally, I find them quite attractive and absolute adorable. Today, while processing this image, I decided to emphasize the amber under the wings, and then went with a painterly style, done partly in a program and partially by hand, to turn it into an artwork that is obviously not completely documentary. It gives one an idea of what a more colorful tufted titmouse might look like. Sometimes it’s fun to take a bit of artistic license.
