Chickadees Can Be Found in Lots of Interesting Poses

One of the things I enjoy the most when I’m out bird watching, is looking at behavior. Bird behavior is always interesting and sometimes it’s quite comical or emotional. Right now there are lots of fledglings around and they are just learning new behaviors and they are keeping their parents very busy, too. This makes the behavior especially interesting. This little adult Carolina chickadee (Poecile carolinensis) was searching through the tree branches, foliage, and Spanish moss for tidbits of food. It was grasping the tree branch and learning out trying to reach some nearby Spanish moss. It’s amazing some of the positions that they will get into to reach a couple of insects. But when you have hungry mouths to feed, you do whatever you have to.
