Earlier this week I took a wonderful excursion to the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Florida. Even though the gardens have been around for much longer than I have lived in the Gainesville area, I have somehow managed to never have visited before. I spent about two hours walking around looking at all the beautiful plants, flowers, insects, and birds. The gardens are divided into several sections, and although I could have easily walked the whole pathway in two hours, I took my time and enjoyed the views and took plenty of photos. One of my favorite displays was the hydrangeas. I have always loved hydrangeas, but I happened to be there when the flowers were partly lit by the bright afternoon sun and partially covered in shadows. That light made the illuminated flowers absolutely glow and really emphasized the depths and folds of their petals. I was mesmerized and had to take several images. This one was my favorite, so I thought it should be shared first. Overall, I was very pleased with the outing, and I will definitely be going back. In fact, I just really can’t believe I’d never been there before.
