When I took my little “staycation”, I lucked into a beautiful sunset out in Cedar Key. As the sun was going down a nearly full moon was rising. I was just about ready to head out for home when I noticed several groups of various wading birds flying across the water and heading for their roosting sites. They were quite a ways out over the water but I still had my telephoto lens on the camera so I took a few shots. Since the light was low, the birds moving, and I was pushing the limits of my camera and lens, several of the shots came out as just blurs, but I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well this one came out. The birds were too far away to identify in the image, but with my binoculars I could see that they where American white ibis (Eudocimus albus). Getting the chance to photograph a flock of birds flying to roost at sunset seemed like a beautifully fitting way to end a great day of birding.
