It’s Always Interesting Watching Birds Interact

On Sunday morning I took a trip out to Cedar Key. I hadn’t been out there all month and I was wondering what winter and spring birds were around. I saw quite a few of both, although the two in this shot were both residents. I found a pretty little secluded lagoon near one of the bridges that had quite a few wading birds hanging around. There were several of the roseate spoonbills (Platalea ajaja) and numerous snowy egrets (Egretta thula) among others, all looking for a nice morning meal and a comfortable place to hang out. I was in the process of photographing this spoonbill, when the snowy egret strolled into the middle of the shot. Honestly, I figured the shot was ruined, but when I got it downloaded onto my computer I was really pleased with the circle that the birds make and the way they looked together. Even though they were both paying no mind to the other, it made a nice composition and a nice interaction shot.
