Micro Photography is Interesting and Lots of Fun

I’m always looking for new and interesting things to do with my photography and artwork, so when a friend of mine told me about a relatively inexpensive microscopic lens that could be used with my smart phone camera I wanted to try it out. The new lens arrived last week and I did have to spend a little time figuring out how to use it (that’s still an ongoing process) before I took it for a trial run. As you can see, the image quality isn’t bad and hopefully will improve as my skill with it improves. Like other macro and micro lenses, it has a very shallow depth of field, but it definitely shows some nifty details that you would never see with the naked eye. This is what I thought was an interesting image of a bit of a branched lichen that had fallen in the driveway. Grossly, it was pretty clean, but microscopically you can see grains of sand all over it as well as some cool growth nodes and small branches.
Do you find this interesting?
