Sometimes You Just Have to Try Something Unusual
As a general rule, I try not to include people or manmade objects in my nature photographs. But every once in a while an unusual situation comes along that requires trying something different. The last time I was out in Cedar Key for the sunset, I was in the process of packing it in when I glanced up and caught sight of this large airliner flying overhead, leaving a good sized jet trail. The color from the setting sun was picked up by the jet trail and it became a fiery reddish orange. For a few short minutes it looked as if the plane was trailing fire, and it was quite striking. Luckily, my camera was still out because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss getting a shot of that!
