This Beautiful Mexican Primrose Bloomed Late

This morning I decided to get up early and head out to take some photos. It was supposed to be foggy, so I was hoping for some nice landscape images, but that was not to be. The fog was actually minimal, so I went looking for wildlife instead. At a pretty little wet land area where I stopped for a while, I found this one last Mexican or Peruvian primrose flower (Ludwigia octovalvis). It was in great shape, so it must have bloomed late since most of these flowers have gone by. I liked how its bright yellow color really stood out against the browns and greens of the surrounding vegetation. It was a pleasant surprise to find this flower, so as well as photographing several types of birds in that spot, I also got some shots of this little beauty.
