The Woodpeckers are Living in a Beautiful Wildlife Paradise
If you were a wild animal, where would you want to live? I can’t ask him directly, but I think Woodrow the red bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus), wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. He lives in a semitropical State Forest filled with insects and plenty of trees that are perfect for nesting in, perching on, and eating from. Food and water are readily available and he has a pretty mate to help him raise his chicks. As he perched in this live oak tree, surveying his surroundings, he seemed pretty content. To me, he looks like a red bellied bird in a birdy paradise. What do you think?
