The Colorful Parent Blue Jays Can Get a Break
All the little eastern blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) babies have flown the nest and have departed the area, so now the parents are taking a well earned break. Without the young ones to feed, I’m not seeing the adults at the feeding station as frequently. I know they’re still around, though, because I hear them almost every day and sometimes they do stop by to eat. The parents are looking healthy and happy when they show up so I would say they’ve had a successful year. Before to terribly long the breeding season will be on us again. We can only hope the next one will go as well as this one has.
