Different Processing Methods Result in Unusual and Colorful Artworks

We are now more or less in the dead of winter, which means that except for birds, there’s not much moving around right now. That gives me a little bit of time to look back at some old photos and to do some more creative things with some of my images, both old and new. I enjoy being able to do some of this because it really gets my creative juices flowing. I usually start out with something in mind, but that frequently changes along the way. For example, this photo of a five lined skink (Plestiodon fasciatus) was something I originally saw as have a lot of blues and purples on the lizard, but that was keeping it from standing out against the background. I experimented with several color variations and processing step and eventually came up with the final solution above. Although I’m pretty happy with the final product, it wasn’t at all what I had in my original thoughts. It’s so much fun to watch these things come together!
