The Sun Setting Over the Water is Always Beautiful
Recently, I’ve taken a couple of great hikes out on a friend’s property that backs up on a pretty good sized pond known as Watermelon Pond. Like most of our central Florida waterways, this pond is spring fed, and it’s size changes depending on how much rain we’ve had. Lately we’ve had plenty of rain, so the waters are pretty high and are attracting lots of birds and wildlife. I’ve especially enjoyed watching the sandhill cranes that have been plentiful. At the end of my last hike the sun was dropping when I made it back, so I stood on the side of the pond and took some photos as it went down. This image is actually facing in an eastern direction, so the sky colors are those being reflected from the western sunset. It tends to produce more muted pastel pinks and blues, and sometimes (like this particular evening) I find the eastern sky to be prettier than the western sky. I especially enjoyed the way the pink from the sky reflected off of the water. When you look at a scene like this, out in nature, it hard not to feel at peace with the world, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
