I Never Realized How Beautiful a Turkey Feather Could Be
On my last hike through Gothe State Forest, I found this gorgeous turkey feather hung up on a twig along the side of the trail. The first thing that caught my eye was the shining metallic glow along the ends of the feather since it was properly positioned in the sun. I had to stop and take a couple photos of it before I removed it from the twig. Once out of the sun a lot of the sparkle wasn’t as visible, but the feather was still quite attractive. It’s the time of the year that the wild turkeys are starting to get their more colorful breeding plumage so that they can attract a mate. Before long the breeding season will be in full swing. In the meantime, I guess this fellow is one feather behind his competition.
