I Love it When the Sun Lights Up the Grasses

It’s probably no surprise to anyone that I would find a scene like this appealing. I have posted several times about the afternoon sun lighting up grasses or other types of plants. It’s a look that has always been attractive to me. The difference here, is that for this shot it was the early morning sun. One day last week I got up early and went out for the sunrise. It gave me the chance to walk around outside without suffering a heat stroke, and I’ve always enjoyed a good sunrise. After the sunrise, I went over to Gothe State Forest and wandered around. Since the area of Gothe where I was had quite a few trees, it was almost like a second sunrise as the sun came up through the trees. At one point it lit up this patch of Cogon grass (Imperata cylindrica) so nicely that of course I had to take some photos. Even though it was a pretty short walk it was enjoyable and I was the only one there so it was very peaceful, too.
