It’s Interesting to Look Deep into the Throats of Flowers
Have you ever taken a close look down the throat of a deep throated flower? I’m not sure exactly why they fascinate me, but, but I’m always curious about what’s down there. Maybe I want to see the same view as a bee does, I’m not sure. Whatever the reason, I like doing it even more now that I have a macro lens. The macro lens gives an even better view of what’s down inside those flowers. For example, with the naked eye or a regular camera the center of this pipevine flower (Aristolochia littoralis) just looks like a yellow spot of pigment. You can sort of see some texture in the spot if you look closely, but I was so excited to see all those little stamens and all that pollen once I strapped on the old macro lens. I mean, how cool is that?!? I also frequently (but not always) like the interesting “abstract” image you get from taking a shot of those areas. I say it all the time, but Nature really is an amazing artist.
