The Bright Pink Flowers Make Mimosa Trees Exceptionally Colorful
Mimosa trees (Albizia julibrissin) are some of the prettiest spring trees due to their abundance of bright pink, fluffy flowers. The flowers always remind me of a small pink explosion or firework. Each little fiber of the flower is a slightly different shade of pink, all weaving together to form the gorgeous flower.
When the tree is covered in hundreds of these fluffy flowers, which contrast perfectly with their dark green leaves, it really is a sight to see. Unfortunately, like fireworks, these pretty flowers only last for a short time each spring and then they are gone. The trees still stay green for the rest of the summer, and the flowers become clusters of green seed pods, which are also very attractive. The other big drawback to mimosa trees is that they are native to China and Eastern Asia, and are invasive in the United States. For that reason, I would never plant one on my own property, but it doesn’t keep me from admiring the ones that grow in our area.
