Macro Photography Can Be Interesting and Artistic
Just before Easter I photographed a bunch of Atamasco lilies (Zephyranthes atamasco) growing wild near the road. The flowers were gorgeous and perfect for an Easter post. One of the things I love to do when I find a good subject is to try to get unusual images. I try various angles and backgrounds whenever possible. Another way I like to try to get unusual shots is to get out the macro lens and take closeups. Even if the photos don’t come out the way I’d like, sometimes I see some amazing details that I would otherwise never have known were there. Sometimes the photos also come out resembling a piece of abstract art. Frequently those are some of my favorites, like this macro shot of the center of one of the lilies. I love the way the pollen covered anthers seem to almost pop out of the shot and how nicely they contrast with the green center and white petals. The speckles of pollen on the petals also add a nice bit of texture. And I would definitely say it foots the bill for being kind of unusual.
