The First Full Moon of 2023 was Especially Beautiful
Yesterday after work was shopping day; something that I absolutely hate, but is a necessary part of modern life. As often as possible, I shop in the small towns near where I live, but every so often I have to go into Gainesville. I do my best to save up those errands and do them all at once if I can. Yesterday was one of those times when I had to go into the much larger city. I try to time my visits so that I avoid as much of the five o’click traffic as possible, but yesterday it was especially heavy. On the way home, I got stuck in this traffic jam. But I suppose that even a traffic jam can have its benefits. As the sun started to go down the full moon started to rise in the eastern sky that was being colored by the sunset on the opposite horizon. As it came up, the moon looked huge and golden in contrast to the reddish sky. It was absolutely gorgeous. Being stuck in traffic, I couldn’t really stop to get a photo, so I took this one in my rear view mirror. I wasn’t sure how that would turn out, but I was pleasantly surprised. I wish I could have been in a prettier setting to watch this magnificent moonrise, but had I been, I might not have seen it at all. By the time the moon had risen high enough to clear the trees, it no longer looked so huge and much of the sky color had faded as well.
