The Beautiful Trees of Alaska do Well with Rain
Part of the reason that everything is so green in Alaska and much of the rest of the Pacific Northwest is that it rains a lot. Having lived in Oregon for a time, I was not surprised by all the rain we encountered in Anchorage. There were times when it was pretty heavy and others when it was actually sunny, but most of the time it was an on again off again drizzle. With that drizzle, it seemed like everything was pretty much always damp. Long term it can be depressing for some people, but it also makes everything, especially the plants, shiny and extra colorful. This particular white spruce was at a lake that we visited on one of those drizzling days. I really liked the way the moisture brought out the color of the needles and the water drops were an added bonus.
