An Unusual, Comical Image of a Discolored Renia Moth
On a fairly regular basis I end up getting moths in my house. They are attracted to the house lights once the sun goes down, and I’m frequently in and out several times in an evening. It’s fairly easy for a moth or two to fly in occasionally. I try my best to keep them out, but when they do make it in they don’t usually last long before the cats manage to get them. Last week one discolored renia moth (Renia discoloralis) actually managed to survive long enough to make it to the bathroom. I found it resting on the bathroom mirror the next afternoon. My original thought was to get some photos of the underside of the moth from the reflection in the mirror, but I couldn’t get an angle that captured only the underside. Instead, I got this image which gave me a little laugh because it looks like the moth is dancing with it’s reflection. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m sometimes easily amused, but I hope you get a chuckle from this photo, too.
