I Really Love Combining Photography and Drawing
I got my start as an artist when I took a drawing class in college. It was originally chosen as an “easy” (meaning no math!) non-science class to fulfill one of my liberal arts requirements for graduation. I knew there would be plenty of homework, but it would be very different from my usual studies, so I thought it might be fun. When I took the class I found that I really enjoyed it, and actually produced a couple of things that I liked. After that, I took a couple more art classes, which I also enjoyed. After graduation I continued to draw. When I decided to start this blog, I had been seriously taking photographs for about a year. I also love photography and the creative process. But I do have to say I also still love to draw, so when I can combine the two in order to create something, it makes me very happy. While my internet was on the fritz, I have had some time to do a couple of these combination photograph and drawing pieces. The above image is one of them. The photo is of a white banded fishing spider that lives behind the shutter of one of my windows. Starting with the photo, I added color and some other details in my Procreate app to end up with the final result. It was great fun to work on, so I hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you think!
