A Beautiful and Colorful Artistic Rendition of a Polyphemus Moth
The Polyphemus moth (Antheraea polyphemus) is beautiful in it’s own right. Don’t get me wrong, but as most of you know, from time to time I enjoy playing around with colors. I definitely have a preference for adding blues and purples to things, but sometimes other colors are nice, too. I actually did several renditions of this image to see what I liked best, and this turned out to be the winner. These large moths are naturally a very pretty reddish brown, sometimes with a real slight greenish tint, with black and white markings. Those colors allow it to blend into it’s natural environment. If they really looked like this, they would probably all get eaten by birds. But still, it’s fun to stretch the old imagination from time to time!
