The Delicate Intricacy of a Spider’s Web is a Beautiful Thing
Spider’s webs have always amazed me. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and even colors, sometimes. Some of the strands are sticky to trap prey while others are strong to support the web and/or the spider. And some of them are routinely there, but we don’t know what function they serve. This web was made by one of our Mabel orchard orb weavers. It was on the front porch of my dog house, and I really liked the way it caught the light on a rainy afternoon. I hadn’t had my macro lens for long when I took this, so I was excited for any opportunity to use it. It took several shots at several angles, but this is the one that turned out the best.
