A male blue dasher dragonfly perches lightly on a vine stem as it hunts for prey. The dragonfly has a long, powdery blue thorax with a black tip. The thorax is striped in light blue, black, and yellow, and the head is a turquoise blue. The head is mostly made up of the large eyes. The tops of the eyes are slightly darker, while the bottoms of the eyes have black splotches. The wings are in motion and are difficult to see except for the amber coloration near the body.
