I Hate It When Bugs Come to the Picnic

This little tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) was just finishing up a treat when some sort of flying insect buzzed over its head. It must have annoyed or startled the bird because it stopped eating and looked at the offender. The insect, of course, continued on its course and the bird went back and polished off its meal. It actually wasn’t until I downloaded the photos into my computer that I even realized what had happened. Little surprises like this are one of the reasons that I love nature photography.
