One of the reasons that I really enjoy watching and photographing birds is because you never know what they may do. Sometimes they do something that’s highly amusing. Sometimes the camera also catches them doing something completely normal, but it looks amusing in a still shot. That was the case here. This pretty female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) was getting ready to fly away from her perch as I shot a photo. The way she is positioned and the way her wings are spread in the image, it seems as though she was looking out from behind the perch and waving to someone. I found it amusing (and yes, I am easily amused), I hope you do too!
