High Contrast Black and White Sometimes Makes Interesting Nature Photos

This worn and weathered old pine tree sits alongside one of the roads in our neighborhood. I don’t pass it daily, or even weekly, but every time I do drive by it I have think that I should photograph it. I didn’t even really know why or what I planned to do with the photo, but it kept calling to me, so the last time I went by I took a few shots. This evening I decided to play with them and came up with this image. I tried black and white since it just seemed to fit the photo. Then I tried out several different styles of black and white, and I really liked this high contrast style. Again, it just seemed fitting to the picture. What do you think?
