Introducing My Latest Artwork and Second in the Flower Series
I wanted all of you to be the first to see my latest artistic endeavor, the Rose Flower. This is the second in my flower series. These images are all drawn from my own photographs, some of which I have published here. I was inspired to start the series while I was editing one of my gardenia flower photos. I’ve always really liked gardenias, and one of the first plants that I ever bought for my property when I moved here was a gardenia. That’s actually the same plant that blooms every spring and whose flower photo I was working with. I really liked the way the sun was shining on the flower in that particular image, emphasizing the highlights and shadows in the folds of the petals. It gave me the idea for the first drawing and while I worked on it I realized that gardenias are far from the only flowers that would make good black and whites. Roses are also a favorite of mine, so the rose was a logical choice for the next in the series. The reference photo I used was from quite awhile ago of a Don Pablo rose that again, I bought not long after I moved here. Let me know what you think! I really do appreciate any feedback.
