Roseate Spoonbills are Beautiful in Flight or in the Water

Not long ago, I visited one of the swampy areas that I know about near where I work. I never know what I may see out there, but it’s never disappointing. On this particular evening I was even more pleased than usual. There were quite a few wading birds out there fishing and intermingling. The majority of the birds were white ibis, but there were also quite a few roseate spoonbills (Platalea ajaja), great egrets (Ardea alba) and a few little blue herons. The fishing must have been good because for the most part, all these birds were getting on well. At one point a few of the spoonbills flew over from one group to another, and I was lucky enough to catch a couple shots of them in flight. It was also the same evening that I got some videos of the various birds feeding. I got rained out, otherwise I’m sure I’d have been there until the light ran out.
