Wild Birds Love to Hide in All the Greenery

Wildlife photography, and especially bird photography can be difficult at the best of times, but during the summer, when everything is leafy and green it’s even harder. So often, I can hear a bird, but never do locate it; sometimes even when it’s very close to me. It’s very normal for wildlife to hide out in the vegetation. Not only does it make it harder for us to see them, but it also makes it harder for predators to see them (and they see us as at least potential predators, too). If the animal you happen to be looking for is a predator, they often use the greenery to hide them from potential prey. This little tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) had been to the feeding station several times and I guess he was full. He found a nice, what he thought was well hidden spot, spent a few minutes preening, and then was just relaxing. He was quite a ways away from me and I had to put an extender on my telephoto lens to get this shot, so the bird isn’t quite as sharp as I would have liked. I really wanted to show this shot, though, because I like the composition and I also like the behavioral concept it represents. Let me know what you think.
