Some More Fun with Colorful Abstract Photos

I always have a lot of fun creating these abstracts from some of my photographs. I have no desire to do them all the time, and not all photos lend themselves well to it, but I do love the freedom that abstracts provide. Unlike most other types of photography, there aren’t a lot of rules to follow (or artistically decide to break) to determine what is “good”. With abstracts, though, the only real rule is that it looks good to the artist’s eye. This particular piece was made from a shot I took recently of a hibiscus flower. Hibiscus flowers are always fun to photograph because they are quite pretty, have those lovely wrinkled and textured petals, and, of course, the long, beautiful stamen. The fact that they come in all sorts of colors just adds to the many things you can do with images of them. Enjoy!
