Winter Solstice is a Beautiful Time in Florida
Many people consider the period around the winter solstice to be a beautiful time of the year. They have fresh snow (or the hope of fresh snow) on the ground and covering the trees and shrubs. But down in central Florida, we don’t get snow but it is cool enough to keep our colorful wildflowers from growing and our grasses and tree leaves from being green. It tends to be a rather “brown” time of the year. But as you can see from tonight’s image, there is still beauty to be found. Both the winged sumac (Rhus copallina) and the background are shades of brown, but they come together very nicely. That’s one of the wonderful things about nature. If you look closely, you can always find something beautiful.
