Horace’s Duskywing is One of the Beautiful Pollinators that Love Chaste
When the chaste trees in the local plant nursery were blooming they attracted a lot of pollinators. I stopped there one day to photograph the flowers, but I also spent quite a bit of time photographing bees, wasps, and butterflies, too. By far the most common butterfly there was the Horace’s duskywing (Erynnis horatius). They tend to be a little drab compared to some of our other local butterflies, but they really looked sharp on the bright purple chaste flowers. This one was really beautifully marked, and would have been pretty on its own, but it looked great on those flowers.
