Phlox is in Full Bloom and Especially Beautiful at Sunset
Right now the Drummond’s phlox (Phlox drummondii) is in full bloom and quite glorious. It tends to grow in large clusters in areas that get adequate amounts of sunlight, which includes roadsides and medians. This image was actually shot in the road median just outside of Chiefland, Florida. I was on my way home and had been watching the sun getting lower and lower in my rear view mirror. As I started passing this very large patch of phlox I decided it would be a perfect spot to stop and watch the sunset and take some photos. This was taken just before sunset, and I loved the way the sun lit up and brought out the colors in the grass and flowers.
