The Beautiful American Bullfrog has Made His First Spring Appearance
Earlier this week I saw the little American bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) that lives in my pond. I haven’t seen him since last fall when the weather began to cool. He was sunning himself on a piece of a stick that was floating in the pond. I won’t lie, though, this photo isn’t from this week. I did start towards him with the thought in my mind to get a shot or two, but he got scared and he dove back into the water and went under. So this picture is actually from last fall shortly before he went into hibernation. I’ve also had a little green tree frog on my bathroom window at night for the last couple of days. It’s so good to see some frogs beginning to get out and about. Yet another sign that spring is quickly approaching.
