Winter Gives Us Time to Try New, Fun Things
During most of the year central Florida is teeming with flowers, insects, butterflies, and all manner of wildlife to photograph. Winter, though, tends to just be brown. We don’t get any pretty snow falls (although that gets old real fast when you have to live in it!) or auroras. There are still some pretty sunrises and sunsets, and I have been doing a lot of birding lately. The earlier evenings also afford a bit more time for other pursuits. One of the things I’ve been doing with the extra time has been to play with some of my older images. Today I worked on some editing techniques that lead to the photo having the look of an oil painting. As with anything else I do like this, I try to add some hand drawing, too; mainly because I enjoy it, but also to stylize it and add a piece of myself to it. I love a nice watercolor painting, and I’ve been trying to learn some basic techniques, but it’s not easy. Nothing I’m producing yet is worth sharing, but I did like the final outcome of this one done through the app.
