Momma and Poppa are Looking Wonderful Again
At the end of the summer I posted about my Momma and Poppa cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) both looking a little rough after a long summer of producing and caring for babies. Now all the youngsters have flown the coop (pun intended) and Momma and Poppa have been filling themselves up on food from the feeding station and regrowing all the feathers they had lost. Now they’re both looking fit, fat, and fluffy again in time to make it through the winter. They’re lives will be a bit easier than most since they’ll never find food to be in short supply, but even winter in Florida can be hard on birds so small. I’m glad to see them looking so gorgeous though. I’ve become rather fond of them both.
