A Colorful Sunset at the Beach is Iconic Florida
Even though much of Florida, including the area where I live, is not a beach many people automatically think beach when they think of Florida. And since most of the state is relatively narrow, most of us aren’t more than an hour or two drive from a beach. Cedar Key is a small fishing village and tourist spot in our county and not quite an hour from where I live, so I make the trip out there pretty regularly. On my last trip, I headed out there to do some birding and wasn’t disappointed, but I also wanted to see a nice sunset at the beach. And again, I wasn’t disappointed. This is actually the eastern sky that is reflecting the color from the west. It’s a lot more subtile and has the added bonus of catching the rising moon. In some ways, I preferred this view to that of the more brightly colored western sky, but both definitely had their charms.
