The Night Sky is a Great Start to Make a New Artwork
Sometimes I like to take one of my photos and use it as the basis for a piece of artwork. That was actually why I began taking photos to begin with, but then I discovered that I really enjoyed photography. I still absolutely love drawing, too, so when I can combine the two, I’m a happy camper. I liked the idea of this photo of a half moon rising in the late afternoon sky, but it wasn’t as sharp as I would have liked and there wasn’t anything else in the photo, so it was pretty boring. I took the photo and drew in some clouds. Then I layered the clouds to give them an exaggerated three dimensional appearance similar to a topographical map. I then played around with the color and highlights a little until I got things the way I liked it. Finally, I added some light streaks. I’ve been working on this for a few days now and I’m finally pretty happy with the results. So now I guess it’s time to share. After all, that’s what art is all about. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
