The End of the Colorful Sunset Reflects Perfectly
A couple of weeks ago, I took a Friday off and went hiking at Paynes Prairie State Park. I like to go places like that on weekdays when the parks are less crowded. It turned out to be a perfect day for hiking and I had a wonderful time and saw some interesting things. I went in the mid afternoon and hiked around until nearly the time of the sunset. Just before the sunset I went down to Lake Wauberg to watch from the boat ramp. It turned out to be a great sunset and the water was calm enough to give some awesome reflections of the evening colors. I took quite a few photos as the colors changed, but this was one of the last ones I took. It was almost dark, and the last bit of color was reflecting off the lake. If you look near the top of the image you can see the silhouette of a single bird flying over the water towards its roosting place. Most of the others had long since gone to roost including an anhinga and a great blue heron that had settled in close to where I was. Except for the mosquitoes (which got so bad I had to leave shortly after taking this shot), it was a perfect end to a perfect afternoon.
