The Oxeye Daisy is a Beautiful Ornamental Flower
On one of the rainy days while we were in Alaska, we went for a walk around my brother’s neighborhood between showers. Along the way I found these oxeye daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare) growing in someone’s lawn. These flowers are also often called dog daisies, moon daisies, white daisies, or marguerites. They’re actually an ornamental flower in the United States (native to Europe and parts of Asia). It’s not unusual for them to escape gardens and become lawn pests, which I’m sure these were. Pests or not, they were quite pretty, especially sprinkled in rain drops from the previous storm.
