The Beautiful Color of the Orange Milkwort Can Be Enhanced Artistically
Not long ago, I stopped alongside the highway to photograph some orange milkwort flowers. I enjoy the way these flowers look. They grow in long racemes and when they are in full bloom they look just like cheese puffs! Tonight’s image was actually taken from directly above the top of the raceme (it’s late in the year for these flowers, so much of the rest of the raceme looked kind of moth eaten), so you just have to imagine the rest of the flowers continuing downward towards the stem. This photo was actually surprisingly similar to one I took of these flowers last year, so I decided it needed something to distinguish it, and came up with the idea of making all of the open florets black and white. Let me know what you think.
