Sometimes the Art of Nature Tells a Really Amazing Story
I was struck by the artistic beauty of this single dandelion seed left on the stem of the flower. The wind had blown all of the others away one by one. In my mind’s eye, I can picture them holding on and vibrating in the breeze until a strong gust pulled each one away and sent it floating through the air. Each one floated along, rising and falling, like some early sailor, completely at the mercy of the wind. Finally, each one came to rest on the ground. Some landings were light and soft, whereas others were thrown to the ground by the wind and rain. Once on land again, each one soaked up sunshine and water until it was ready to slowly grow roots into the dirt. Those roots spread out and eventually a brand new plant emerged, ready to repeat the whole adventure again. That’s the short version (you probably don’t want to wade through the long one!) of the story that this piece of nature’s artwork brought to my mind. What amazing tale do you see?
