A Summer Sunset in Winter is a Beautiful Thing
Summer is long gone, but I was reviewing some of my photos last week, and came across this one that I had completely forgotten about. It was actually taken in 2020 in the early summer just as the afternoon thunderstorm season was starting. Every afternoon the thunderheads would build up on the horizon and move towards us. Most afternoons we get fifteen to thirty minutes of intense rain, and then it clears up and the sun comes back out. On this particular afternoon we hadn’t gotten any rain and the thunderheads were still hanging around by the time sunset rolled around. As the sun was setting it backlit one of the thunderheads and turned some of the whiter clouds a beautiful orange. It was very impressive in my opinion, so I took this photo. In the top version I left it the way my wide angle lens captured it, while in the second, I cropped it to emphasize the thunderhead. Any preferences?
