A Rising Moon is Always a Fascinating and Beautiful Thing
I think most of us are fascinated by the moon in one way or another. Since ancient times people have watched the moon and used it to predict the time, the weather, the future, and lots of other things. That fascination persists to this day. I mean who among us who are old enough don’t remember the first space mission to the moon! And if we go Cape Canaveral we all stop and stare at the moon rocks on display. I’m not superstitious and I’ve seen moon rocks and they look pretty much like Earth rocks (but they’re still mesmerizing). My main interest in the moon is it’s simple beauty. I especially like it when you can see it during the daylight hours. It’s not all that rare, but it’s more unusual than seeing it at night. Whenever I see it out during the day I try to get a good photo of it, especially if I can get it in an interesting or pretty context. I took this one late afternoon when I was out in the pine flatwoods of Gothe State Forest. About fifteen minutes after I took this shot, the sun was beginning to dip below the tree line and in another fifteen minutes it was definitely starting to get dark. I took several photos during that process, but I liked this one the best because of the way the moon is partially framed by the pines. The sun shining on the pines gave them a nice warm glow that just gave me a serene, comfortable feeling. Do you enjoy watching the moon?
